Delayed, with no new date. On 5 September 2026 Google told us the expansion was delayed, live experiments were paused and the timetable was being revised. No replacement date was given, and Google's public CSS documentation still lists only the 21 established countries. We email you once Bulgaria is confirmed.

Bulgaria is an EU market in the second 2026 expansion wave, and it joined the euro area on 1 January 2026. Prices here are in euro, so a shop that already sells into the eurozone needs no separate price list for this market.

The currency changed under your feed this year

Bulgaria adopted the euro on 1 January 2026 at a fixed rate of 1 EUR = 1.95583 BGN, becoming the twenty-first member of the euro area. The lev stopped being legal tender on 1 February, and the obligation to show both currencies ran until 8 August. That period is over.

For a merchant this is not trivia, it is a migration. Any price rule, feed field or reporting template that still assumes lev is now wrong, and your own historical Shopping data for Bulgaria spans two currencies. Fix that before you buy a single click, or your first month of reporting will be unreadable.

We had this wrong ourselves until today. This page quoted spend in lev eight months after the currency was withdrawn. We corrected it on 17 September 2026 and we would rather say so than quietly change the number.

Two things that decide whether a Bulgarian feed works

Titles are read in Cyrillic. Bulgarian is written in Cyrillic, and shoppers type their queries that way. A feed whose product titles are transliterated into Latin letters, or left in English, will not match what people actually search for. Titles are the field Shopping leans on hardest, so translate them properly even if the descriptions are automatic.

Your prices are euro now, but your competitors' habits are not. Shoppers spent 146 years pricing in lev and eight months converting. Round euro prices read as designed; prices that are clearly a converted lev amount read as an afterthought. It costs nothing to round, and it is the cheapest trust signal on the page.

Frequently asked

Is Bulgaria still using the lev?

No. The euro replaced the lev on 1 January 2026 at 1 EUR = 1.95583 BGN, and the lev stopped being legal tender on 1 February 2026. Dual pricing was mandatory until 8 August 2026 and that period has ended.

Is there a launch date for Shopping ads in Bulgaria?

No. Bulgaria was placed in the second expansion wave, but Google told us on 5 September 2026 that the timetable was being revised and gave no replacement date.

Should my product titles be in Bulgarian?

Yes, and in Cyrillic. Shoppers search in Cyrillic, and titles are the field Shopping matches hardest. Latin transliteration of Bulgarian titles is one of the most common reasons a feed underperforms in this market.
