Delayed, with no new date. On 5 September 2026 Google told us the expansion was delayed, live experiments were paused and the timetable was being revised. No replacement date was given, and Google's public CSS documentation still lists only the 21 established countries. We email you when Montenegro is confirmed.

Montenegro is a non-EU market in the second 2026 wave that uses the euro. We will confirm CSS availability before making any connection claim here.

It uses the euro, and it is not a member of anything that comes with it

Montenegro adopted the euro unilaterally, without an agreement with the EU and without joining the euro area. The practical effect for a merchant is convenient: prices and feeds work exactly as in any euro market, and no conversion is needed.

The trap is assuming the rest follows. The country is not in the EU, so nothing about EU rules, VAT handling or programme eligibility can be inferred from the currency on the price tag.

These 15 markets are pending in our expansion watchlist; selecting one does not mean it is currently available.

Candidate status, and what it means for your paperwork

Shopping ads availability, a live experiment and full CSS programme availability are three different things, and one does not confirm the others. For Montenegro we do not yet know whether the CSS programme will apply.

We would rather write that than let a waitlist signup imply an answer we do not have.

Both alphabets are official, and one of them wins in practice

Montenegrin is written in both Latin and Cyrillic. Unlike Serbia, everyday commercial use leans clearly towards the Latin alphabet.

That makes the script decision easier here than anywhere else in the region, but it is still a decision. Write it down before the feed is built rather than discovering it from a search term report later.

The shop systems here, and how they reach Merchant Center

The only technology-detection dataset found for Montenegro, based on a small sample of just over 600 stores, ranks WooCommerce first and Shopify second among named shop systems; no independent second source with a comparable current ranking could be found for this market. WooCommerce connects to Google Merchant Center via the official Google for WooCommerce plugin, and Shopify via the Google and YouTube sales channel.

Frequently asked

Is Montenegro in the EU?

No. Montenegro is a candidate country, and the shared currency is not shared membership. Customs paperwork, VAT handling and delivery times all follow non-EU rules, which is the part shops underestimate because the price list needs no work.

Which currency do I price in?

The euro, at the same prices you already use inside the eurozone. This is the only market on the waiting list where the currency question has no answer to prepare.

How big is the market?

About 620,000 people. Small enough that few large retailers will build a presence on day one, which is exactly when cost per click in a new market is at its lowest.

Is this a new integration I have to build?

No. There is nothing to build. Whatever already pushes your catalogue into Merchant Center keeps running unchanged; the switch itself is one approval, not a new connection.

Does trying this cost anything if it does not work out?

Not if you decide within 60 days: full refund, no questions. Outside that window there is still no lock-in, just monthly billing you can stop from your portal.

Do I need a second feed just for this?

No. The same feed that already reaches Merchant Center is what a CSS submits from. One feed, one Merchant Center account, no duplicate setup.

Is my data shared with anyone new by switching?

No. A CSS only submits the ad your Merchant Center feed already builds; it does not see your website, your customers or any data beyond what Merchant Center already exposes to any authorised party.

Is there a limit on how many shops I can add?

No. Pricing is per shop with an automatic volume discount from five shops, calculated from your total. Adding more shops later just recalculates that total; it does not require a new agreement.

Who do I actually talk to if something needs fixing?

A real person on our side, not an anonymous ticket queue. Support, billing and cancellation are all handled from the same portal you use to add a shop.

Does the switch pause my ads while Google processes it?

No. Your ads keep running the entire time, under whichever CSS is currently submitting them, until the new one is confirmed. There is no gap in coverage.

Does this work if I already run Performance Max, not just standard Shopping?

Yes. The bid-power effect applies to the Shopping portion of a PMax campaign specifically; the rest of the campaign runs exactly as before, because the switch happens in Merchant Center, not inside the campaign itself.
