Italy is a sizeable euro Shopping market. Through a CSS, Google's margin of up to 20% no longer comes off your bid, which is up to 25% more bid power, while your products, prices and campaigns stay exactly as they are today.
Italian adjectives agree, and machine-built titles do not
Adjectives change with gender and number, so a title assembled by joining attributes produces forms that are almost right and searched by nobody.
Shopping matches the string. Almost right is a miss.
Switzerland has an Italian-speaking region, and it is a different market
Ticino reads Italian, so the words transfer. The currency, the customs position and the shipping do not: Switzerland sits outside the EU and prices in francs.
Reuse the language, rebuild the settings.
What the margin costs an Italian shop
At 1.000 € a month in Shopping spend, up to 200 € is taken before the auction begins. Up to a fifth of every bid, from industry experience and ours rather than a published Google figure.
Italy is a euro market, so the only work is the feed.
The shop systems here, and how they reach Merchant Center
In Italy, third-party technology scans (BuiltWith) show WooCommerce and Shopify as the two most frequently detected online store platforms, with PrestaShop present in the market but detected on a much smaller share of sites. Exact market-share figures are less firmly established here than for France or Spain, since the available data comes from broad technology-detection crawls rather than a dedicated national e-commerce census. If you run your shop on WooCommerce, PrestaShop or Shopify, the feed connection to Google Merchant Center works the same way as elsewhere: WooCommerce through the official Google for WooCommerce plugin, PrestaShop through the official PrestaShop Marketing with Google module, and Shopify through its built-in Google and YouTube sales channel.
Frequently asked
What breaks most often in an Italian feed?
Gender and number agreement in machine-assembled titles.
Is Italy in the eurozone?
Yes.
Does my Italian feed work in Switzerland?
The language does. The currency and customs do not.
How big is the Italian market?
Around 59 million people, the third largest on this list. Online retail participation is lower per head than northern Europe, which cuts both ways: less competition, and a smaller pool of buyers.
Is the south a different delivery market?
Delivery times vary more across Italy than across most markets here, and Shopping shows the estimate before the click. Set it honestly.
Do I need to touch my feed to make this work?
No. Whatever gets your catalogue into Merchant Center today keeps doing exactly that. A CSS sits one layer up: it changes who submits the bid, not how the feed gets there.
What if I want to leave after switching?
Cancel any time from your portal, with no minimum term and no exit fee. Inside the first 60 days you can also just ask for your money back, no explanation required.
Do I need a second feed just for this?
No. The same feed that already reaches Merchant Center is what a CSS submits from. One feed, one Merchant Center account, no duplicate setup.
Does the switch pause my ads while Google processes it?
No. Your ads keep running the entire time, under whichever CSS is currently submitting them, until the new one is confirmed. There is no gap in coverage.
Is there a limit on how many shops I can add?
No. Pricing is per shop with an automatic volume discount from five shops, calculated from your total. Adding more shops later just recalculates that total; it does not require a new agreement.
Who do I actually talk to if something needs fixing?
A real person on our side, not an anonymous ticket queue. Support, billing and cancellation are all handled from the same portal you use to add a shop.
Is my data shared with anyone new by switching?
No. A CSS only submits the ad your Merchant Center feed already builds; it does not see your website, your customers or any data beyond what Merchant Center already exposes to any authorised party.
Does this work if I already run Performance Max, not just standard Shopping?
Yes. The bid-power effect applies to the Shopping portion of a PMax campaign specifically; the rest of the campaign runs exactly as before, because the switch happens in Merchant Center, not inside the campaign itself.
