The Netherlands has a mature webshop scene running Google Shopping, and the CSS saving applies on the same ads you already run, with no change to placement or pricing.

High English comprehension is not Dutch search behaviour

The Netherlands has some of the strongest English comprehension in Europe, and that fact misleads merchants every year. People read your English site perfectly well and then search for the product in Dutch.

Shopping matches the string in your title. Comprehension does not enter into it.

Belgium is next door and it is not the same feed

Dutch is spoken in Flanders too, with differences in everyday product vocabulary. And half of Belgium buys in French.

Plan Belgium as its own market with its own feed rather than as an extension of this one.

What up to a fifth of the bid is worth

At 1.000 € a month, up to 200 € of your Shopping budget is taken as margin before your ad reaches the auction. The figure is up to a fifth, based on industry experience and ours.

Move to a CSS and that money competes for clicks instead.

The shop systems here, and how they reach Merchant Center

Dutch sources disagree on which platform leads the market: a BuiltWith-based measurement from January 2025 put Shopify at 31%, calling it the leader by a wide margin, while a 2026 overview citing a combination of Datanyze, BuiltWith and W3Techs instead ranked WooCommerce first at 34% against Shopify's 26%, with Lightspeed at 12%. WooCommerce connects to Merchant Center through the official Google for WooCommerce plugin, Shopify through the Google and YouTube sales channel, and Lightspeed eCom through a built-in Google Product Feed configured in the store's website settings.

Frequently asked

Which language should the feed be in?

Dutch, including the titles. English comprehension is high and irrelevant to matching.

Is the Netherlands in the eurozone?

Yes. No separate price list to maintain.

Can I use the same feed in Belgium?

Partly. Flanders reads Dutch, Wallonia reads French, and product vocabulary differs. Treat it as a separate market.

Is the Netherlands worth a separate feed?

Around 18 million people with very high online retail participation. Per head it is one of the strongest e-commerce markets in Europe, so the feed usually pays for itself quickly.

Do Dutch shoppers expect Dutch delivery terms?

Delivery time and cost show in the Shopping ad before the click. Set them per country rather than inheriting one European rate.

Do I need to touch my feed to make this work?

No. Whatever gets your catalogue into Merchant Center today keeps doing exactly that. A CSS sits one layer up: it changes who submits the bid, not how the feed gets there.

What if I want to leave after switching?

Cancel any time from your portal, with no minimum term and no exit fee. Inside the first 60 days you can also just ask for your money back, no explanation required.

Do I need a second feed just for this?

No. The same feed that already reaches Merchant Center is what a CSS submits from. One feed, one Merchant Center account, no duplicate setup.

Is there a limit on how many shops I can add?

No. Pricing is per shop with an automatic volume discount from five shops, calculated from your total. Adding more shops later just recalculates that total; it does not require a new agreement.

Who do I actually talk to if something needs fixing?

A real person on our side, not an anonymous ticket queue. Support, billing and cancellation are all handled from the same portal you use to add a shop.

Does the switch pause my ads while Google processes it?

No. Your ads keep running the entire time, under whichever CSS is currently submitting them, until the new one is confirmed. There is no gap in coverage.

Is my data shared with anyone new by switching?

No. A CSS only submits the ad your Merchant Center feed already builds; it does not see your website, your customers or any data beyond what Merchant Center already exposes to any authorised party.

Does this work if I already run Performance Max, not just standard Shopping?

Yes. The bid-power effect applies to the Shopping portion of a PMax campaign specifically; the rest of the campaign runs exactly as before, because the switch happens in Merchant Center, not inside the campaign itself.
