Austria runs German-language Shopping feeds. If you already advertise in Germany and Austria, one subscription per shop covers both with no extra per-country fee.
Same language, and not always the same word
Austrian German differs from German German in a set of everyday words, and several of them are exactly the kind of noun a shopper types into a search box.
The month is Jänner rather than Januar, and the pattern repeats through ordinary product vocabulary. It is small, and it sits in the field that matters most.
This is the cheapest market to add if you already sell in Germany
The feed, the currency and the campaign structure all carry over. What you owe Austria is a review pass over the titles, not a translation project.
Budget hours, not weeks. Most shops that skip it are still findable, just less often than they could be.
What up to a fifth of the bid is worth
At 1.000 € a month in Shopping spend, up to 200 € is taken as margin before your ad enters the auction. That is up to a fifth, from industry experience and ours.
Austria uses the euro, so nothing changes about the price list.
The currency question answers itself here
Austria is in the euro, so pricing and payment run in the same currency: no conversion, no separate price list to keep up to date. Austria is also one of the markets where the 2017 EU ruling requires equal CSS access, not one where Google extends it as a voluntary choice: the legal basis behind it is not going anywhere, whatever happens to the programme elsewhere.
Frequently asked
Can I use my German feed?
Yes, after a review pass on the titles. Austrian vocabulary differs in places that matter for search.
Do I need a separate Merchant Center account?
No. Same account, country setting added.
Is Austria in the eurozone?
Yes.
Is Austria worth adding on its own?
Around 9.2 million people. On its own it is a modest market. As an addition to Germany, where the feed is already written, it is close to free.
Do I need a separate Merchant Center account?
No. Add the country to the account you already have.
Does switching CSS mean changing my product feed?
No. The switch only changes which authorised CSS submits the ad that Merchant Center already builds from your feed. However your catalogue reaches Merchant Center today, it keeps reaching it exactly the same way.
Is there a setup fee or a minimum contract?
No setup fee, and no lock-in: cancel from your portal whenever you like. You also have 60 days after going live to change your mind for a full refund, no questions asked.
Do you build a custom feed, or use what I already have?
We use the feed you already send to Merchant Center. There is nothing new to build, and no separate export just for us.
Is there a limit on how many shops I can add?
No. Pricing is per shop with an automatic volume discount from five shops, calculated from your total. Adding more shops later just recalculates that total; it does not require a new agreement.
Who do I actually talk to if something needs fixing?
A real person on our side, not an anonymous ticket queue. Support, billing and cancellation are all handled from the same portal you use to add a shop.
Does the switch pause my ads while Google processes it?
No. Your ads keep running the entire time, under whichever CSS is currently submitting them, until the new one is confirmed. There is no gap in coverage.
Is my data shared with anyone new by switching?
No. A CSS only submits the ad your Merchant Center feed already builds; it does not see your website, your customers or any data beyond what Merchant Center already exposes to any authorised party.
Does this work if I already run Performance Max, not just standard Shopping?
Yes. The bid-power effect applies to the Shopping portion of a PMax campaign specifically; the rest of the campaign runs exactly as before, because the switch happens in Merchant Center, not inside the campaign itself.
