Portugal is a euro Shopping market where the same regulatory equal-access rule applies. Your ads are unchanged; Google's margin of up to 20% no longer comes off your bid, which is up to 25% more bid power.
The two Portuguese markets do not share a product vocabulary
A feed written for Brazil uses different everyday words for ordinary things, and the differences sit precisely in the nouns a shopper types. Spelling differs in places too.
If your Portuguese content arrived from a Brazilian source, have someone read the titles specifically. The descriptions matter far less.
Spain is next door and shares nothing linguistically useful
Portuguese and Spanish look close on a page and behave as separate languages in a search box. A Spanish feed transfers no titles worth having.
Budget Portugal as its own translation, not as a variant of an Iberian one.
What up to a fifth of the bid is worth
At 1.000 € a month in Shopping spend, up to 200 € is taken as margin before your ad reaches the auction. Up to a fifth of every bid, from industry experience and ours rather than a figure Google publishes.
Portugal uses the euro, so the price list needs nothing. The work is entirely the feed.
The shop systems here, and how they reach Merchant Center
WooCommerce and Shopify are the two most common ecommerce platforms among Portugal's active online stores, with PrestaShop and the Portuguese platform Jumpseller also present but smaller in store count. If you run your shop on WooCommerce, your product feed connects to Google Merchant Center through the official Google Listings and Ads extension, which syncs products via a direct API connection, while Shopify stores use the built-in Google and YouTube sales channel for the same purpose. PrestaShop stores can use the official PrestaShop Marketing with Google module, which syncs the catalog and updates price and availability automatically each day, and Jumpseller includes a built-in Google Commerce integration with automatic, real-time syncing.
Frequently asked
Which Portuguese should the feed use?
European Portuguese. A Brazilian feed uses different product nouns, and nouns are what Shopping matches.
Can I reuse my Spanish feed?
No. The languages are neighbours, not substitutes.
Is Portugal in the eurozone?
Yes.
How big is the Portuguese market?
Around 10.6 million people, and one of the smaller western European markets. Several categories are less contested here than in Spain.
Does the Portuguese feed also serve Brazil?
No, and it should not. Different product vocabulary, different currency, different market entirely.
Does switching CSS mean changing my product feed?
No. The switch only changes which authorised CSS submits the ad that Merchant Center already builds from your feed. However your catalogue reaches Merchant Center today, it keeps reaching it exactly the same way.
Is there a setup fee or a minimum contract?
No setup fee, and no lock-in: cancel from your portal whenever you like. You also have 60 days after going live to change your mind for a full refund, no questions asked.
Do you build a custom feed, or use what I already have?
We use the feed you already send to Merchant Center. There is nothing new to build, and no separate export just for us.
Is my data shared with anyone new by switching?
No. A CSS only submits the ad your Merchant Center feed already builds; it does not see your website, your customers or any data beyond what Merchant Center already exposes to any authorised party.
Is there a limit on how many shops I can add?
No. Pricing is per shop with an automatic volume discount from five shops, calculated from your total. Adding more shops later just recalculates that total; it does not require a new agreement.
Who do I actually talk to if something needs fixing?
A real person on our side, not an anonymous ticket queue. Support, billing and cancellation are all handled from the same portal you use to add a shop.
Does the switch pause my ads while Google processes it?
No. Your ads keep running the entire time, under whichever CSS is currently submitting them, until the new one is confirmed. There is no gap in coverage.
Does this work if I already run Performance Max, not just standard Shopping?
Yes. The bid-power effect applies to the Shopping portion of a PMax campaign specifically; the rest of the campaign runs exactly as before, because the switch happens in Merchant Center, not inside the campaign itself.
