France is one of the larger euro Shopping markets, so the same up to 25% more bid power translates into a substantial monthly figure for shops with real Shopping spend.

Accents are not decoration in a feed

French carries é, è, ê, à and ç, and an export that flattens them produces titles no shopper types. The product page renders correctly, so the shop looks fine while the feed does not.

Check the exported file rather than the page. That is where the stripping happens.

Belgium and Switzerland read French, and are still separate markets

A French feed covers the language in Wallonia and in western Switzerland. It does not cover the currency, the shipping or the customs position: Switzerland is outside the EU and prices in francs.

Reuse the words, not the settings.

What the margin costs a French shop

At 1.000 € a month in Shopping spend, up to 200 € is taken as margin before your ad enters the auction. Up to a fifth of every bid, from industry experience and ours rather than a Google disclosure.

The budget does not change when you switch. What it buys does.

The shop systems here, and how they reach Merchant Center

PrestaShop, WooCommerce and Shopify all have an established presence among online stores in France. A March 2026 study of 125,512 active French e-commerce sites found WooCommerce ahead by number of stores, while PrestaShop's stores generated the largest combined revenue (7.96 billion euros) and had the most sites in the 40,000-plus-monthly-visitors segment. If you run your shop on PrestaShop, your product feed connects to Google Merchant Center through the official PrestaShop Marketing with Google module, which syncs your catalog and refreshes price and availability daily; WooCommerce stores use the official Google for WooCommerce plugin, and Shopify stores use the built-in Google and YouTube sales channel, both syncing automatically.

Frequently asked

What breaks most often in a French feed?

Accents, stripped on export. It is the first thing to check and the easiest to miss.

Can I reuse the feed in Belgium?

For the French-speaking half, largely yes. Flanders reads Dutch.

Does Switzerland work with the same feed?

The language does. The currency, shipping and customs do not: Switzerland is outside the EU and prices in francs.

How big is the French market?

Around 68 million people, the second largest on this list after Germany. Competition in the mainstream categories is heavy, and the long tail is where most new entrants find room.

Do I need a French company to advertise here?

No. The Merchant Center account and the feed are what matter.

Is this a new integration I have to build?

No. There is nothing to build. Whatever already pushes your catalogue into Merchant Center keeps running unchanged; the switch itself is one approval, not a new connection.

Does trying this cost anything if it does not work out?

Not if you decide within 60 days: full refund, no questions. Outside that window there is still no lock-in, just monthly billing you can stop from your portal.

Do I need a second feed just for this?

No. The same feed that already reaches Merchant Center is what a CSS submits from. One feed, one Merchant Center account, no duplicate setup.

Who do I actually talk to if something needs fixing?

A real person on our side, not an anonymous ticket queue. Support, billing and cancellation are all handled from the same portal you use to add a shop.

Is there a limit on how many shops I can add?

No. Pricing is per shop with an automatic volume discount from five shops, calculated from your total. Adding more shops later just recalculates that total; it does not require a new agreement.

Does the switch pause my ads while Google processes it?

No. Your ads keep running the entire time, under whichever CSS is currently submitting them, until the new one is confirmed. There is no gap in coverage.

Is my data shared with anyone new by switching?

No. A CSS only submits the ad your Merchant Center feed already builds; it does not see your website, your customers or any data beyond what Merchant Center already exposes to any authorised party.

Does this work if I already run Performance Max, not just standard Shopping?

Yes. The bid-power effect applies to the Shopping portion of a PMax campaign specifically; the rest of the campaign runs exactly as before, because the switch happens in Merchant Center, not inside the campaign itself.
